STARSTRIKERS

Starstrikers is undergoing a refresh in both the manuscript and the cover design. We hope to have it to the presses at Amazon's CreateSpace by the end of June. Depending on how soon they can get it ready, the POD paperback version on the novel will then be available from Amazon.

I will update the Kindle version and the Scribd version at the same time. So hopefully, we will soon have three major ways to read Starstrikers by July of this year.

In the mean time, you can still purchase the novel for the Kindle and read it for free at Scribd.com.

I've been thinking about this all weekend. Might I suggest that you also consider either a MobiReader or Microsoft Reader format?

I do a lot of my reading, now, on my iPAQ. I've been developing a library of my favorite books in electronic versions, when I can find them, as that's way more portable. However, I'm not inclined to go for a Kindle, if only because of it's size, and as near as I can tell, Scribd.com is strictly either online or points to Amazon.com to purchase the e-book, which circular situation will, I think, point back to Kindle in your case.

As I mentioned before, when I first had the chance to read Starstrikers and converted it for reading on my iPAQ, it's simple enough to convert to either a MobiReader format or with a little more work to a MS Reader format. I'm still willing to help here, if desired.

Perhaps this could be done after the Kindle/Scribd releases rather than trying to add it into the mix while facing your deadlines. Just something to think about.

Ok, one little update, after I'd posted the above. I just figured out how to download it from Scribd.com and saw there was a PDF format. So, I guess that answers my question, basically, as it's really easy to translate a PDF into either of the other two formats. I'm not too thrilled about the idea of having to create an account at Scribd.com, tho, as I got enough accounts all over the place already! ;-) I guess that makes it a moot point, basically?

I will be offering a MobiPocket version of the refresh and if you want to create a Microsoft Reader version I can get you the text or PDF or Word Doc whichever you need for that. In fact that would be terrific if you did that again. Thanks for offering! ;)

Actually, I will try and get the text in as many formats as possible and they will be available here and at Scribd and Amazon.

Sure thing, Ken. You know where to send it. I can just as easily create the MobiReader version as the Microsoft Reader version, if that helps. Just e-mail me when ready!

Boise Weekly Quote

I was quoted in a local paper today. “The people that work [at Rediscovered] really know books very well. They’re not afraid to talk up the local authors,” says McConnell. “That helps me as a writer who lives here, and it can only help the community to get to know those writers that do live here.” Cool.  [...]

Baker’s Dozen

I’ll be appearing at Rediscovered Bookshop this coming Saturday, the 21st of November with 12 other Idaho writers in Baker’s Dozen.  The event got a nice write-up in the local paper here.  I spoke with a reporter from the Boise Weekly, on Friday, so I expect a similar that article this week, also on Baker’s [...]
