WE'RE MOVING!

This site will be turned off in a few months and all it's content moved to my new domain and permanent home at: http://ken-mcconnell.com. If you have anything important on your home pages, please salvage what you can. The one thing I can't move to the new site are blog postings. Which really sucks, and is a bit part of why I'm leaving Ning - the other part being that I need to consolidate my web presence on a single site.

All future content… Continue

Cover Changes for Starstrikers Second Edition

Not only is the complete novel getting a professional copy edit for the second edition, but so is the cover and the interior layout. As valued fans of the book, I'd like to solicit your opinions on changing the covers. You can read my list of changes in the Second Edition forum on this site. If you would like to join the forum and offer your suggestions, I'd welcome them.

In the mean time, I'm going back to the copy edits.

New Short Story "Tin Star"

If you like Space Westerns, you should enjoy "Tin Star", the story of an android who becomes the Sheriff of a small desert town. It's from the Ocherva Series of short stories featuring characters from the planet Ocherva and set during the First Generation of the Galaxy Collision Series.

I will be posting all my short stories set in the GC universe over the next few months. Then, as time and inspiration hit me, I will be ad… Continue

Genre Crossing

Just to make sure you all are not left out of the fun for only liking the SF stories that I write, I'm having a book release party for my second book later this month. It's the first book in a series about a programmer sleuth named Joshua Jones. Just in case you might be interested, you can find out more at the Joshua Jones Mystery Series web site and on my regular blog, My View. Oh yeah, the book is called Null_Pointer.

Meanwhile… Continue

Second Edition Edits

Second Edition edits have begun on Starstrikers. I'd like to get through them before picking up Tyrmia again for the Second Draft of that manuscript. Another call for changes to me made to Starstrikers! This is your last chance to tell me that it sucks and why.

I'm going through the book to make line changes now. Then I will update the document and send it off to my editor for her inputs. Should be done with my edits by October. There are a few things I will be addin… Continue

I just signed up for Goodreads. I am also a member of Shelfari which is a similar deal. At least on Goodreads I could add Starstrikers. The search for it on Amazon failed though. Funny, works for a regular web page search.

Ken,
Have you looked at Goodreads.com? I've seen a few published, unpublished, and "semi"-published authors networking there. There are 3 on my friend list, and they run the full bell-shaped curve.

Moving!

As I mentioned in previous posts, this blog is moving to a new domain.  That new domain is now up and running.  You can get there from here.  The new site is on a different server and has my name – ken-mcconnell.  This is an attempt to capitalize on future brand awareness. All of the posts [...]

Boise Weekly Quote

I was quoted in a local paper today. “The people that work [at Rediscovered] really know books very well. They’re not afraid to talk up the local authors,” says McConnell. “That helps me as a writer who lives here, and it can only help the community to get to know those writers that do live here.” Cool.  [...]

Baker’s Dozen

I’ll be appearing at Rediscovered Bookshop this coming Saturday, the 21st of November with 12 other Idaho writers in Baker’s Dozen.  The event got a nice write-up in the local paper here.  I spoke with a reporter from the Boise Weekly, on Friday, so I expect a similar that article this week, also on Baker’s [...]
