Not only is the complete novel getting a professional copy edit for the second edition, but so is the cover and the interior layout. As valued fans of the book, I'd like to solicit your opinions on changing the covers. You can read my list of changes in the Second Edition forum on this site. If you would like to join the forum and offer your suggestions, I'd welcome them.
In the mean time, I'm going back to the copy edits.

If you like Space Westerns, you should enjoy "
Tin Star", the story of an android who becomes the Sheriff of a small desert town. It's from the Ocherva Series of short stories featuring characters from the planet Ocherva and set during the First Generation of the Galaxy Collision Series.
I will be posting all my short stories set in the GC universe over the next few months. Then, as time and inspiration hit me, I will be ad…

Just to make sure you all are not left out of the fun for only liking the SF stories that I write, I'm having a book release party for my second book later this month. It's the first book in a series about a programmer sleuth named Joshua Jones. Just in case you might be interested, you can find out more at the
Joshua Jones Mystery Series web site and on my regular blog, My View. Oh yeah, the book is called
Null_Pointer.
Meanwhile…

Second Edition edits have begun on
Starstrikers. I'd like to get through them before picking up
Tyrmia again for the Second Draft of that manuscript. Another call for changes to me made to
Starstrikers! This is your last chance to tell me that it sucks and
why.
I'm going through the book to make line changes now. Then I will update the document and send it off to my editor for her inputs. Should be done with my edits by October. There are a few things I will be addin…

I'm running a special on my Science Fiction available for the Kindle. Three short stories and one novel each for only a buck. So four stories for four dollars including a whole novel. Not a bad deal. A couple have gone for the four pack and a few more have gone just for
Starstrikers.
If you have come to this site from Kindle land, welcome! You will find lots of pictures and drawings in the Photos section and of course lots of my rambling here in the Blogs section. You can sample more of…

Late last night, well, late for me anyway, I finished the first draft of
Tyrmia. Stats: 60 Chapters, 102,522 Words, 477 Pages. It has taken me just over a year to write. What started as a short story that longed to be a novel, threatened to become a trilogy of books. I had to reel in the action and focus on just one person's story. In the end, I have written my longest book to date.
Tyrmia is story of a star pilot who is marooned on a jungle planet and must come to accept her dest…

Tyrmia has passed the one hundred thousand word mile post and is nearly finished. At least the First Draft is. Then I let it sit and stew for a while before taking up the fight again to bust out the Second Draft. Scheduled to start the Second Draft in October and would like to finish it by January. We shall see.
I will be work-shopping it in November, so hopefully any glaring mistakes in plot and character will come out there.
Overall, writing Tyrmia has been pretty fun. It's taken me f…

Do you own all of my printed Sci-Fi? If you have read
Starstrikers and own the paperback, perhaps you need to buy
Barren Worlds, the anthology with my short story "Ocherva". There is a link to it on Amazon from the front page of this site. If you don't own it, consider getting it. You won't regret it.
Look for my second novel set in the
Starstrikers universe -
Tyrmia, coming to paperback Fall of 2010! That's just a year away folks. I better go finish that first draft…

This weekend I purchased a Zoom H2 digital microphone in preparation for recording my stories and novels as podcasts. As soon as I can find a quiet place to work, I'll be recording a blog entry and posting it here for your listening pleasure.
One of the problems with podcasts is that only those who can hear can enjoy them. I'm also looking into ways to make the podcasts I do, accessible to those who are deaf. Why? It just so happens that my only beta reader for
Tyrmia is deaf and I don't…

If you enjoy Space Opera Sci-Fi on your Kindle, September is your month! In celebration of my birth month, I've got four stories set in the Galaxy Collision Series all for .99 cents each. Start your 4-pack with
Starstrikers, my debut novel about a Special Forces team and their efforts to thwart a new and deadly enemy warship. Then continue on with a short story about a starfighter test pilot called "Red Allen". If androids are more your thing, be sure to read "Silicants Only" a story abou…

I managed to finish two chapters of
Tyrmia this weekend. It's part of my push to get the first draft finished by the end of September. My word count is up somewhere north of 87K words. The outside limit for a novel is 120K words. So either I'm going to make that without much worry, or I will glide right past it and need some serious cutting in the second draft.
To be honest, I only fret about not having enough words, rarely about having too many. In this case, I know the story is a long…

I have added a new discussion under the
Tyrmia category in the Forums. This is for my Beta Readers to use when they spot something wrong that will need fixed for the next draft. Currently, I am finishing up the first draft of
Tyrmia. If you want to get in on the action and read the First Draft of the novel, let me know. It's ugly and disjointed, so if you would rather not see a novel with it's clothes off, then please wait until it comes out next year.
However, if a naked and conf…

I had a great time at Fandemonium last weekend. Over 700 participants attended and I sold eight books! Four of them were
Starstrikers. I have extra copies of
Starstrikers at my house, so if you live in the area and can't find the book at Rediscovered Books let me know. For a more extensive report on the con, please read my post on the regular blog.
The next novel set in the GC universe is currently being written. It's called
Tyrmia and it is set in the Third Generation of t…

I have already cruised right into chapter 45 by at least 1200 words. Lots of bad things happening to our heroes in the last few chapters, signaling the turning point for the protagonist. This novel is the first SF novel that I have written where I have consciously followed the the Hero's Journey as spelled out by Joseph Campbell. So we are now at the lowest part of the story - the belly of the whale, where our hero must decide to either give up or stick it out.
The good news is that in the comi…

It appears that the writing of
Tyrmia, is back on. I hope to knock out the remaining twenty thousand words and finish up the first draft in the next month. I'll be updating my progress here on Starstrikers.ning. If you are also a member of Tyrmia.ning, stay here for now. I'm looking at dropping some Ning sites and going with just two, a Joshua Jones Series site and a Galaxy Collision Series site. For now, those will be Nullpointer.ning and Starstrikers.ning. In the future, I could change…

This weekend I've finally gotten off my duff and started writing
Tyrmia again. Tyrmia is a stand-alone novel set in the Galaxy Collision Series and it takes place long after the events of
Starstrikers. I've been writing this novel for the past year and I have resolved to finish the first draft by my birthday in September. My goal is to get through the first draft and start in on the second ASAP. I'm shooting for a release date of August 2010.

I'll be the Science Fiction Guest Author at this year's
Fandemonium. If you live in the area, please come out and hear me read from Starstrikers and attend a writer's panel. Love to see as many people as possible at this event, so mark your calendars and come on out for one of the three days of the convention.
This will be my first convention where I am a Guest of Honor. It's also my first SF related convention, so be gentle. :…

For those of you following the progress of
Tyrmia, the next novel set in the Galaxy Collision Series, it's still going. I'm having trouble focusing on it lately, and that will lead to many changes in the next draft. But I think it's important to plow through the first draft, so I'm plowing as hard as I can.
You can follow my updates on my main blog:

You can now purchase the pdf version of
Starstrikers on Scribd. In case you needed to feed a starving writer today. You can no longer get the pdf free from Scribd. But you can still get it free on the main page of this site under Formats Available. All other works on Scribd remain free.
My hope is that new readers sample the free crack (short stories) and then later come back with wallets open for the novel…
