Sunrise pictures

I decided on my way to work this morning that the sun just looked to good to pass up. I stopped along the highway and took a few pictures. I then played with a few of them in photoshop just to see what I could do. Here are the results posted on flickr Continue

fifth sentence page 123

Ken McConnell has tagged me to participate in the meme of posting the fifth sentence on page 123 of any book. My choice is Kerplunk! by Patrick F. McManus. "Liaten Finley," I said, "I venture this is a B and B where we'll be able to kick back and relax with our shoes on and our ties and jackets off, without worrying about all the rules of some prissy owner." Last nights thunder storm

Lat night we had a good thunder storm roll through the valley. I went out to watch and decided to try to capture some lightning with my camera. Have you ever tried to photograph lightning? I had fun watching the storm and was actually able to get a few pretty good pictures. Continue

Photo experiment

I have posted a series of photos to flicker that are a good example of the kind of experimentation I like to do with my DSLR. These photos are all taken with the same settings except for the shutter speed. Continue

Evening storm

Last nigh we had another storm blow through. It brought lightning, thunder, wind and rain. It was just before dark. I went out on the porch to watch the storm. I had my DSLR camera with me with the 50mm f1.7 lens. As the sun was setting there were several places the sun was lighting up the clouds so I began taking pictures. I have rainbow and cloud pictures that are really good. I have now over 130 pictures on the camera to go through so I will be busy next week getting them sorted and posted. I… Continue

Beautiful Day today.

Today has been a very nice day. The weather has been warm, but not hot. I did not check the temperature, but I think it was somewhere in the mid 70's. Lots of clouds all day, but only one short rain storm this evening. I got a lot of grass mowed, until I hit a fan belt buried in the grass and jammed up the mower, I was able to get some good pictures of some Elk on the trip over last night, and some good pictures after the storm this evening too. I however forgot the sinc cord for the camera and… Continue

Boise Weekly Quote

I was quoted in a local paper today. “The people that work [at Rediscovered] really know books very well. They’re not afraid to talk up the local authors,” says McConnell. “That helps me as a writer who lives here, and it can only help the community to get to know those writers that do live here.” Cool.  [...]

Baker’s Dozen

I’ll be appearing at Rediscovered Bookshop this coming Saturday, the 21st of November with 12 other Idaho writers in Baker’s Dozen.  The event got a nice write-up in the local paper here.  I spoke with a reporter from the Boise Weekly, on Friday, so I expect a similar that article this week, also on Baker’s [...]
